Vechi Mutum, National Outreach Coordinator for Tree House Recovery, describes how addiction took his life down to a very dark place, leaving him homeless and broken. He thought he could still call his mom for money and help when he needed it. When she said no, and set firm boundaries, he realized what he needed to do: seek professional help. If his mom kept helping him, it would have made him just a little bit more comfortable in his addiction, enough to keep him going. He attributes his success to that very moment she said no.
